Mount Speed Upgrades
for FFXIV Free Trial

Increase your Mount Speed in 36 Locations available in the FFXIV Free Trial.
All mounts have the same movement speed, however that speed can be increased in two different ways. The first speed increase comes from completing certain Main Scenario Quests, while the second comes from Riding Maps. These are area dependent, you can see your progress in the Mount Speed menu.
The SDS Fenrir and Garlond GL-IS are special mounts which you can purchase from FFXIV’s Online Store. Both of these have their speed increased by one level at all times, which can be useful for exploring new zones a bit faster. However, as soon as you unlock the first speed enhancement for an area, these become the same speed as everything else.
Upon completing the MSQ “The Ultimate Weapon” you unlock the ability to fly with all of your mounts. Previous mount speed enhancements do not effect flight speed. Instead, flying is slightly faster than max ground speed. Although flying reduces the need to buy Riding Maps, they’re still helpful in certain situations.
Idyllshire, Rhalgr’s Reach, and all of the housing districts only have a single speed upgrade. Furthermore, despite being able to use mounts, flying is restricted in these areas.
