(1/16/2024) – Free Trial Trading!
Another Free Trial trading method has been discovered! It’s not exactly new, it’s been around for years, but we finally learned about it here in ToF! I personally got the chance test this method, so I can confirm that it works!
This can only happen during a very specific time, and the trading is only one way, to the Free Trial player. However, unlike furniture trading, you can trade pretty much anything. We can also attend weddings with this trick! Gil is still capped at 300k, any extra will get deleted.

How to Trade:
The trading window appears after maintenance! If a subbed player sends a free trial player mail with items attached, it’ll actually be sent. The trial player cannot log in until after the items are sent, or it won’t work. The reason this works, is because during/after maintenance the game stops checking if a player is playing on the free trial, until they log in again.
You need to be friends beforehand, and you must be on the same home world to send mail! Subbed players can get around the world restriction by making an alt character on a different world. Items/gil can be transferred to your alt through the market board, just set the prices high enough that others won’t buy your items.
Free Trial players can return the favor by crafting furniture for the subbed players to sell. (As a tenant, craft the furniture and put it in their house’s furniture storage.) You could also tend gardens, so they can sell the crops!

This method may (or may not) be frowned upon by SE, so do so at your own risk. However, I feel like it doesn’t harm anyone, can’t be abused, and isn’t much different than trading “untradeable” furniture as a tenant.
Since it’s possible to obtain new items on the Free Trial, I will gradually be adding them to the website. Trade-only items will be marked with a special icon so you can filter them to the bottom, much like the PvP + Event items.

Since Stormblood is coming to the FFXIV Free Trial in about a month, I plan on gradually updating our website ahead of time. The goal is to give sprouts something to work with starting on day one of the patch. It’s a lot of information to process, so instead of trying push out everything on release, it’ll be a slow process up until then. If you find something that needs corrected, please let me know in our Discord! Thanks! ♥

Added the four sweepstakes mounts that were missing in our checklist. I originally didn’t add them because I didn’t have any solid evidence that Free Trial players could get these rewards, but I can now confidentially say it is possible! Both myself, and another FT member got one of these today. (You can check my lodestone profile if you need further proof.)

Apparently it’s not possible to buy Orchestrion Rolls from the Online Store, so any music exclusively from there has been removed. I also updated the Restrictions Guide to further clarify about what you can and cannot buy from the store.
In other news, the Fish Guide was recently updated to include better “Prime Locations” as well as the recommended bait for each location, based on the in-game guide. On PC, hover over Bait/Mooch icons for additional text. The Time, Weather and other requirements may be added at a later date, but I’m taking a break, it took about a week for that alone.
I also added any hairstyles exclusive to the online store that missed, added additional drop locations for music (from wyvern maps), and fixed some other minor things here and there.

Our checklists are fully functional and can be saved now!
- Checkboxes are saved to your cache automatically. Check a box and it’ll remain even if you leave the page! It’ll remain like this until you clear your cache/cookies.
- Click the Export Checklist button in our menu to create a backup copy. This will give you a JSON file that you can save for later. Import this file to restore your checklists if they get cleared.

We no longer have a Discord login option in our menus. It currently has no purpose, so there’s no point in keeping it. It was originally for our checklists, but we may need to go a different route for those.
In other news, I changed the color and style of the checklist borders to hopefully improve readability. The brighter colors kind of clashed against the white text, so I opted in for a black outline instead.
I also made some changes to our home page. We now have a small section letting people know about the latest updates and events.

Our About page was rewritten to be a bit better. Added our contact information to a new page, which also includes a bunch of links. These links have been moved down to our website footer.
Our website footer also was changed up a little bit. Added a few more links and gave it a new look.

• Removed the Egg Harness Barding from the Chocobo Bardings page. This item originated from an event that took place before the Free Trial existed. (It’s also never been added to the Online Store.)

Checkboxes for checklists have been partially added.
They still will not save to user accounts or to cache. Best case, they could be used for temporary one-time marking, but as soon as you leave the page they will be erased.
However – ids, names and values have been properly set up for the checkboxes. This is the first step in making a proper working checklist.

Trials of Fantasy’s website launch date!
This website was created to improve upon my original Google Spreadsheet guides. By switching to a website format we’re able to use improved visuals, add a sorting and search feature for checklists, increase traffic, and more! Spreadsheets are simply too restricting for the scale of content I’m hoping to release. I hope everyone enjoys our new home!
