Steam Free Trial – Region Restrictions
Steam recently added some additional country restrictions to FFXIV Free Trial on July 23, 2024. This was to be more in line with the full game and other platforms. If you’re someone who has been affected by this, you can use a VPN to get around this restriction. This has been confirmed to be a working solution. ProtonVPN is a good free option for those looking. Best of luck out there!
Additional notes: You cannot swap from Steam to Windows, you’ll need a new account. If using a Windows account, you’ll need to use a fake address since the region restrictions apply there as well.

The latest Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Dawntrail, is finally here! Along with it comes Patch 7.0, which is available for everyone.

New things for Free Trial players:
- The Graphical Update! Tons of visual improvements have been added, including lighting, textures, materials, upscaling, and more!
- Two Dye Channels! Only some gear, expect more in future patches.
- Facewear slot for glasses. Fashion Accessories can be converted at the Calamity Salvager NPCs in the starting cities.
- White Scrips have been discontinued and are replaced with Purple Scrips. You can convert these at Mor Dhona’s Scrip Exchange.
- Get a free Fantasia! The quest begins in Ul’dah – Steps of Thal from the Medicine Merchant. These let you re-create your character.
- Optionally hide players near quest related NPCs.
- Improved Blacklist Features! Plus a Mute List and a Term Filter.
- “Tribal Quests” have been renamed to “Allied Society Quests”.
- Some crafting accessories have received a buff.
- Lots of other Quality of Life updates!

Free Trial Shadowbringers is available now! It’ll take some time before the Trials of Fantasy website is fully updated, but I’m working on it! Some of our pages and checklists are already up to date, with more to come.

- The Armoire checklist was reorganized to match FFXIV’s new sorting method. Previously things were a bit scattered, but now the game organizes glams by event and release dates, which makes everything much cleaner and easier to navigate.
- Some of our larger checklist tables have had pagination enabled. Instead of listing 1000 items at a time, they’re now set to only show 200 at a time. This should help the page speed after the entire list loads, and should be less overwhelming.
- Viewers can further reduce the number of entries per page by using the options at the top-left of the checklist.
- The Search Bar, located at the top right of a checklist, can still search through the entire checklist even if it’s not currently displayed. (This is recommended instead of a CTRL+F search.) Likewise, the sorting options will also sort by the entire list.
- This includes: Armoire, Fish, Minions, Orchestrion, Titles
Other pages remain unchanged.
- Our website is up to date with everything up to Patch 7.45, and with any new event information. This is usually true even if I don’t mention it here. Any new game updates get posted as soon as possible.

I just found out that my minify plugin used to enhance website performance was breaking the site’s lightbox feature, so it was disabled. That’s the thing where you click an image and it enlarges itself in the same window, overtop the content. (It also lets you zoom, fullscreen, share and download images.) Not sure how long it’s been like that, but it’s fixed now, at least for images that currently use that feature. More coming soon.

(Adding this retroactively because I forgot to mention it.)
All of our checklists are now sorted like their in-game organization. This means that similar types of things will be grouped together, like for example, all of the chocobo minions will be next to each other. This will be our default from now on, however you can still sort by Alphabetical by clicking the top of the “Name” column. Likewise, you can swap back to default by clicking the first # column, or try a different sorting method.
I also added a few extra sorting methods to a few checklists.

Some updates on checklist sorting:
- “Event” and “Online Store” columns have been merged. With this new update, having them separate isn’t really necessary anymore.
- Sorting by special collection methods (like events) is now fixed, and improved. Instead of just grouping all of the images together, they will now be organized by type as well.
- After clicking sort, limited items are moved to the bottom of the list. The more available items will be higher on the list (like housing) while unavailable items will be at the very bottom (like PvP).
- More updates to sorting are planned for the near future.

Trials of Fantasy’s site went down recently, and I’d like to apologize for any inconvenience! The hosting bills didn’t get paid in time so everything got deleted. My fault, but everything has been restored now! Sorry about that~
In other news, a plugin update a few months back broke the ability to sort checklists by event/cash shop items. The plugin no longer can “see” images, or the HTML, to sort it with. While I can’t fix that directly, I do have a workaround planned. It’ll be a bit of work on my part, so expect that in the coming week or so. However, it comes with the added benefit of being able to sort each cell more effectively, just with more fluff on the backend.
Other than that, the site is all up to date for FFXIV, including Patch 7.21 and the latest event information. That’s all for now, take care sprouts~ ♥

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t been updating the “ToF Updates” part of this page much. The website is still being updated, I’m just bad at announcing it. lol. So here’s a general summary of how it’s going.
- The entire website recently got ported into a new layout system behind the scenes. For the end user, you probably won’t notice any difference. In theory it’s supposed to help with page speed though. It helped cut down on a lot of code, with less “DOMs”.
- I fixed up some of the visuals around the site. The padding around the page content should now be even on every page. (OCD people rejoice!) I also changed all background colors from a boring grey, into the transparent black color that you see now.
- I deleted a lot of old update information from this page. It was getting a bit overwhelming. From now on I’ll only keep the past 2 or 3 major expansions for FFXIV.
- I never announced it, but the newest pages on our website include checklists for Facewear, Plates + Portraits, and Eureka Relics. However, I still need to add some fun images to those pages. (Tbh, it’s a bit difficult taking nice pictures when I can barely run FFXIV to begin with. I’ll get to soon enough though. ^-^” )
- For our guides, I’m starting to use some larger image sizes for better visibility. Newer images can be clicked to view the full image size, with zoom and fullscreen options. There’s also some additional text below the images for better context.
- Everything on the website is updated with the latest FFXIV information. This includes the latest patch for Dawntrail, and the Free Trial’s Stormblood content.
- The mail trading trick was patched in 7.1, so the text for those items have been adjusted. They will remain on the site for legacy purposes, for those who actually have them.
- Some of the checklist columns need adjusting, primarily for mobile devices and smaller screens. The text might not be spaced properly on some pages, I’ll try to work on that when I get a chance.
- The Export Button for checklist data doesn’t seem to work on smaller screens. This includes mobile, tablet, and even desktop with a smaller window. I have no idea how to fix that, sorry! Import works normally though. If possible use a larger desktop window, the Export button will work in the side bar. (Sidebar appears on 1024PX+ screens.) You could then send that exported file to your mobile device if needed.
